Rulers are primarily used for advertising, not as a precision instrument.
Most BIC.® Sticky Note™ products are printed with 4-color process inks as opposed to spot color inks. 4-color process allows you to print as many different colors as you want for one price. All non-standard imprint colors will be converted to the closest 4-color process match. A perfect match cannot be guaranteed. The BIC.® Sticky Note™ Color Wheel, showcasing the multitude of BIC.® Sticky Note™ standard imprint colors, can be found below.
The sides of the Value Non-Adhesive Cubes on pages 400–401 are printed in spot colors. Standard imprint colors can be found below. If a sheet imprint is requested, the sheets will be printed with 4-color process. This may cause a color difference between the sides and the sheet.
When requesting a non-standard imprint color, please provide the color number or a color sample (swatch or photograph). When color is critical, we recommend a color proof. Color paper proofs may not be an exact match to final product. Please see page ordering information for more details on submitting artwork for non-standard imprint colors. RGB files will be converted to 4-color process (CMYK), which may result in color shifts.
Minimum Line Weights & Type Sizes
Text can be as small as 6-point type on notepad and cube sheets. Anything smaller will not be legible. Lines must be at least .5 point thick. On cube sides, the minimum text size is 8 point and the minimum text size for reverse text is 10 point. On beveled notepads, the minimum text size is 12 point along the beveled edge imprint area.
Phantom or Ghost Imprints
Phantom or ghost imprints are available at no extra charge. A 10% screen is usually recommended if you intend to write over the phantom imprint. As they are very light, text and phone numbers are not recommended as phantoms. Large logos that cover most of the space at the center of the pad look best.
Heavy Ink Coverage
There is no extra charge for heavy ink coverage or flood coats.
Ruled lines, either solid or phantom, are available at no extra charge and will be set without a bleed. Please specify which you prefer; otherwise, we will use solid lines
Booklet Cover Products
(PB4A3A50, PSH4A3A50, MFPB, PBCSM)
Due to the printing process used on these products, the imprint colors on the booklet cover may look slightly different than the imprint colors on the adhesive notepad sheet (when the sheet imprint option is chosen).
Drilled Pen Holes in Cubes
Drilled pen holes are available to hold your favorite BIC.® pens for $0.60(g)
per cube. Drilled pen holes will be located in the upper-left-hand corner of the cube on the glue/adhesive side. The approximate depth is 1". Please specify 3/8" (ideal for BIC.® Clic Stic.® or BIC.® Round Stic® pens) or 1/2"
(ideal for BIC.® WideBody.® pens without a grip or BIC.® Tri-Stic® pens without a grip). (Writing Instruments sold separately.)
Cube Sheet Counts
Cubes have approximately 225 sheets per 1" height. For example, the 3".x 3".x 3" cube has approximately 675 sheets.
Due to the printing and assembly process of cubes, the imprint colors on the bound side (Side 3) may look slightly different than the other 3 sides.
Shrink-wrapping is available for BIC.® Sticky Note™ Adhesive Notepads and BIC.® Sticky Note™ Non-Adhesive Scratch Pads.

Keep in mind that some special packaging requests may require additional time and may incur an additional charge.
For new orders totaling $7,500 or 25,000 units, a mandatory product proof (of the side imprint only) will be provided FREE, if a new order, by our factory for approval prior to scheduling production time. If a repeat order a mandatory e-proof will be sent. Please allow additional time on your order when proofing colors. For
BIC® Sticky Note™ custom shapes, please allow 3 working days for a fax proof.
Custom Die Shapes
We will stock your custom dies at no extra charge for a maximum of 24 months from last use.
High-resolution images must be supplied digitally in CMYK format and properly sized to the product ordered. Although we cannot guarantee an exact color match, please provide a color sample (swatch or photograph) in order to match artwork as closely as possible. When color is critical, we recommend a color proof. Color paper proofs may not be an exact match of final product. Photographs and other intricate printing jobs may require additional processing and lead time. Cube orders with photographic images printed on the sides will automatically receive a product proof at no charge.
There is no extra charge for flood coats. You can change the paper color on one side of your BIC.® Sticky Note™ Adhesive Notepad or BIC.® Sticky Note™
Non-Adhesive Scratch Pad by printing a flood coat. Just choose a percentage of one of our standard imprint colors from the Color Wheel. The recommended percentages are 10% to 30%, depending on the color. Flood coats are not available on cube sheets.
There is no extra charge for bleeds. Please make sure your artwork extends 1/8" beyond the standard notepad size on all sides that bleed. Bleeds are not available on cube sheets. Bleeds on cube sides may require additional processing and lead time. When using the templates on BIC Graphic's website, please add an extra 1/16" to all backgrounds intended to fill the surface area. Critical elements of your image and text must remain 3/16" inside the cut line. All 3 guides are noted on the templates: bleed, cut, and safe imprint area. Please note 1/8" bleed.
Always provide a layout and a hard copy of your art so that we will know how you want your BIC.® Sticky Note™ to look. There is a 1/16" variance on all BIC.® Sticky Notes™ when cutting the final product. Provide a color composite of multicolor images when sending in production-ready art or send it in color, digitally (VECTOR ART preferred). If color matching is critical, a color paper proof is recommended.
Most BIC.® Sticky Note™ products are printed with 4-color process inks as opposed to spot color inks. Non-standard imprint colors will be converted to the closest possible CMYK 4-color process match. Artwork should be submitted digitally in CMYK format. When color is critical, we recommend a color proof. Color paper proofs may not be an exact match of final product.
Make your imprint colorful with a multitude of standard imprint colors! When referencing a standard imprint color on your order, please specify BIC.® Sticky Note™ Color Wheel, the color name and the color percentage. For example, when requesting Color Wheel Magenta at 100%, you would simply reference: BIC.® Sticky Note™ Color Wheel Magenta, 100%. It’s that easy!
*Royal Blue is as close to Reflex Blue as we can print.
*Color Chart not reflective when ordering color paper products.
BIC® Sticky Note™ Diagrams
Magnets are printed with 4-color process inks as opposed to spot color inks. The 4-color process allows you to print as many different colors as you want for one price. All non-standard imprint colors will be converted to the closest 4-color process match. A perfect match cannot be guaranteed. Standard imprint colors are shown in order information.
When requesting a non-standard imprint color, please provide the color number or a color sample (swatch or photograph). Please note that when referencing a non-standard color number, we match to the non-standard color number coated color values. When color is critical, we recommend a product proof. Please submit files in the CMYK color mode only. RGB files will be converted to 4-color process (CMYK), which may result in color shifts. Raster images (digital photos) should be at least 300 DPI at 100% final size. Due to the digital artwork printing process, using placed raster or photograph images limits our ability to make color corrections.
Minimum Line Weights & Type Sizes

If color matching is critical, a product proof is recommended.

Fabric Surface Mouse Pads Minimum Line Weights & Type Sizes
Due to the specialized process used to create fabric surface Mouse Pads, there will be some dot gain on the final image (100% to 400%). This can fill in small type and reverse or “knock out” art. Minimum font size is 12 point. Minimum size for reverse text is 18-point. Minimum line thickness is .5 point. Minimum reverse line thickness is 1 point. If font sizes at or below these minimums are critical, then a Firm Surface Mouse Pad is recommended.
Firm Surface Mouse Pads Minimum Line Weights & Type Sizes
Text can be as small as 6 point on most fonts. Lighter fonts may need to be larger. Lines must be at least .5 point thick. Reversed lines must be at least 1 point thick. Sharp contrasts in the imprint colors on Firm Surface Mouse Pads may cause the cursor to skip or jump.
Paper Mouse Pads
For Paper Mouse Pad artwork standards, refer to the Sticky Note™ information.
There is no extra charge for bleeds. Art intended to print to the edge must extend 1/8" outside the cut line. Critical elements of your image must remain 1/4" inside the cut line.
We do not recommend borders on Mouse Pads. If a border is necessary, it must be a minimum of 1/4" thick.

Standard Production Times
Standard production times vary by product and are available on all catalog quantity orders. See product pages for information. Seasonal fluctuations and size of order may affect production times. Production time begins the day after receipt of the complete order or after final proof approval. See Production-Ready Art section for requirements. BIC Graphic offers FREE 24-Hour Service on many items. Please see the inside back cover of this catalog for complete details.
We accept high-quality laser prints, or digital art on CDs or by e-mail. For fastest service and best imprint quality, we recommend providing artwork via e-mail. Artwork should not need any additional touch-up, design, color separation or rearranging for use. Halftones, screens and shades of gray are not available on screen-printed imprints.
The use of licensed artwork requires proof of license or a written release from owner/licensor. Artwork when submitted is assumed to be in full compliance with laws governing copyrights, trademarks, etc. We are not responsible for typographical errors incorporated in submitted artwork. Factory reserves the right to make slight alterations in copy and logos to adapt to imprinting processes.
Please Note: BIC Graphic reserves the right not to print any logo or message that is deemed inappropriate. QR Codes: BIC Graphic is not responsible for the quality, accuracy or usefulness of QR code operations or content. A pre-production proof is recommended to test the functionality of the code.
Artwork will be accepted digitally from the following programs:
Adobe Illustrator® (PC or Mac)—with preferred format saved as PDF
Photoshop® bitmap images (B&W) should to be at least 1200 DPI to size for product being ordered. Color images should be in CMYK color space at least 300 DPI to size for product being ordered
InDesign® include all linked files needed for output. Also include a PDF file saved for press quality output
CorelDraw® save output as an .ai file with Convert Type to Curves selected. Also include a file output as a PDF for reference
For personalization (select items), submit list of names with the following file extensions: Excel®: .xls or Comma Delimited Text: .csv
Submit a copy of the art layout with the order. Note: there is a 1/16" variance on all BIC® Sticky Note™ items when cutting the final product.
Fonts should be outlined
E-mail Artwork: Artwork should be submitted within 24 hours of sending the order. Please include ONLY the purchase order number in the subject line of the e-mail. Multiple files should be compressed in either .zip or .sit format. File size limitation when sent via e-mail is 10MB. Artwork can also be transferred directly to us via our website or FTP.
We recommend using vector art because it produces the highest quality artwork.
It is "resolution-independent," which means it can be enlarged without affecting the quality of your imprint. Please be sure to outline all fonts when submitting vector artwork to avoid the fonts defaulting.
To avoid a color shift, please flatten all transparencies or submit artwork in the exact CMYK breakdown desired. We recommend 10% opacity for phantoms for ease of writing.
Raster Art (Placed/Continuous Tone Images)
Raster Art is "resolution-dependent." When you change the size of an imprint, you change the quality. This means that the resolution (DPI) of your file is critical. Files must be at least 300 DPI at 100% of final size. Grayscale images and bitmaps must be 1200 DPI. Do not submit files with linked images. Please embed all graphics. Raster Artwork will be accepted in Photoshop® format (black-and-white .tiff, .pict, .jpeg files scanned or created at 1200 DPI [high resolution] and at approximately the actual size of the imprint area).
If electronic art is not available, please provide sharp, high-contrast, color-separated or black-and-white artwork. Artwork will be returned upon request or it will be discarded.
Minimum Line Weights & Type Sizes
Please refer to the minimum line weight and type size information on the General Information page for each product line.
We can add text to your imprint at no additional charge. Choose from our stock typestyles shown below and send a TYPEWRITTEN version of the text, specifying typeface, point size and case (see example to the right). When typestyles are not specified, our typesetters will set your copy for the best effect. Your copy must be at least the minimum point size required for each product.
When you choose script fonts, they are only legible when set in upper/.lower case.
Due to variances in product surfaces, some logos and geometric shapes may distort when printing on curved products.

Registration of Multicolor Designs
In multicolored designs where it becomes necessary to register one color next to another, there is the possibility of misregistration amounting from approximately 1/64"-1/16", depending on the size and shape of the item being imprinted. This tolerance meets industry standards and is considered acceptable.

Catalog Price Increases
As we finalized pricing for 2017, every effort was made to identify and project material cost increases from our suppliers. Where necessary, these increases are included in our current pricing. However, due to the volatility of crude oil prices and associated impact on raw material costs, we reserve the right to change catalog prices at any time without notice if necessary. If this is required, we will do everything we can to announce the changes ahead of time. We understand and regret the inconvenience this may cause you and your customers.
All orders are binding upon BIC Graphic only after acceptance by BIC Graphic.
Prices, terms and conditions, items and colors are subject to change or can be discontinued without notice.
Changes will delay orders and must be authorized by BIC Graphic.
